About Us

Born out of the White Cow Folk Club, we are an established friendly club always keen to see new faces and encourage new performers.

We have open mic type nights rather than the popular sing around style found at many clubs, We try to give everyone the opportunity to do something be it folk singing, contemporary music or something else. Although we call ourselves a folk club we enjoy many styles of music and a typical night might include traditional & modern folk music, blues, country music, poetry, in fact just about anything and everything. We believe that folk music is more about folk making music than the subject matter or style.

The club has the use of a private room for club nights with comfortable seating, a well stocked bar and toilet facilities. It is on the first floor with access via a flight of wide, easy to negotiate stairs, if you have difficulty with stairs please contact us and we will provide as much help as we possibly can.

We ask performers to play from a stage area at the front and provide a simple set up of a six channel P.A. with three mics and instrument leads, our sound men will assist you to plug in or mic up, the MC for the night will allocate you a spot and introduce you.  Prospective players need only turn up on the night and ask to be included, seek out either myself (Keith) or Greg we are not hard to spot! Two songs is the norm.  We do ask performers to prepare before going to the mic, you will normally be given an approximate time for your spot and a warning during the previous act, please keep your set up time to a minimum, as it is more entertaining listening to you perform than tuning up and we often need to run a tight ship to get everyone on.

Finally we appreciate performers of all standards and abilities, no one will ever say you are not good enough or too good to perform, and if you don't want to perform just come and listen, but be warned many a non performer has been bitten by the folkie bug and ended up singing along or even learning to play.
