Performing At Our Club

We have open mic type nights and try to give anyone the opportunity to do something, be it singing, playing an instrument or something else. Although we call ourselves a folk club we enjoy many styles of music and a typical night might include traditional & modern folk music, blues or country music.  We do ask that you perform live on the night, the use of recorded backing tracks is discouraged. We believe that folk music is more about folk making music than the subject matter or style.

We ask performers to use a stage area at the front of the audience, we provide a  P.A. mics, instrument leads and a sound engineer.  We will assist you to set up and ask only that you assist us to keep set up time to a minimum, prospective performers need only turn up on the night and ask to be included, seek out either myself (Keith) or Greg (we are not hard to spot!), two songs is the norm.

We do ask performers to prepare before going to the mic, you will normally be given an approximate time for your spot and a warning during the previous act, please try to be prepared, as it is more entertaining listening to you perform than tuning up and we often need to run a tight ship to get everyone on.  There is more often than not a good deal of good natured banter with the MC's, Act's and Audience but we do ask that everyone respects the performers and whilst we do not insist on silence please keep noise to a minimum during performances.

Finally we appreciate performers of all standards and abilities, no one will ever say you are not good enough or too good to perform,
